Newlands’ was the homestead of William & Mary Ann Crampton and their family.
Total land size

9731 acre = 3938 ha

Water licences: 5500ml consisting of

Lachlan River Licences 1700ml +

Bore Licences 3800ml.

Irrigation: over 40 kms of combined river frontage, 1050acres of lasered, recirculated flood irrigation

 

Rainfall: 19” – 475 mm average annual

Country: Ranges from rich alluvial river soils to clay loams and self mulching heavier country. Timbered with yellowbox, greybox, pine & belah trees

Cropping: Irrigation and soil types enable diersification. Up to 9000 acres could be farmed, Last harvest 2000tonnes of wheat went P13 and the balance mainly PH. Irrigated maize has yielded up to 12.44tonnes pa. Currently 3000ac is sown to wheat and 300ac to canola.

Lucerne, wheat, barley, oats, canola and rice have been successfully grown and cottons and vegetables are produced locally

Livestock Capacity: Could run up to 3000, sheep or cattle equivalent
